Grey Crowned Crane
The Grey Crowned Crane is a near-threatened species with only some 4000 to 5000 birds left in the country.
Many rural people believe that these cranes can bring rain, so they include crane pictures in their rituals to call for the rainy season.

I haven't seen this Grey Crowned Crane since I lived in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Saw it at The World Of Birds in Hout Bay, such a beautiful bird.
