Day 9 Saddest Times And Everyone Stands Together Against Violence
So much violence and killing of innocent people. So sad that we as intelligent humans cannot live in harmony and that in order to prove religion we need to descend into such barbaric measures. Can't we just talk and discuss our differences?
In this cartoon 87 year old Underzo from the Asterix comics came out of retirement to also comment in solidarity with cartoonists. This picture says it all.
Day 8 Seagull Eating A Frog
Watching birds from a hide at Intaka Island I was amazed to observe this Hartlaub's Seagull eating a frog. Then again, on second thoughts, these scavengers have been seen eating chips at Hout Bay and even chicken bones outside KFC so I suppose frogs are not off the menu then.
Day 7 Artichoke Flowers
Who knew artichokes had flowers? Who knew artichoke flowers were so beautiful? We found these at the market and had to take some home. They smell like pure honey.

What a spectacular find! A photo turned into art by a photographer Willem Fritz https://www.facebook.com/willem.fritz it has such a mesmerising pattern and the colour is so stunning. An Agapanthus like you never imagined, so fresh and beautiful.

Day 5 Little Chick Lost
Kittlitz's Plover chick all alone on the big pond. Looking so vulnerable and fragile in this new wide world. Hopefully it will grow to adulthood and bring forth many more.
Day 4 And A Remedy To Get Rid Of Flies.
Do you have loads of flies flitting around your kitchen? I do especially when preparing meat for cooking, so the other day I saw this tip and thought OK why not try it, it seems simple enough and won't cost a fortune if it doesn't work.
You need one fresh lemon and quite a few cloves, prick holes in the lemon (as many as you like) and insert the cloves into the holes.
I decided to stand mine in a little jar on my kitchen counter, it looks quite nice there anyway. The first day it didn't seem to make much difference, second day one fly flew in circled and flew straight out again and since then not one fly in my kitchen. It has lasted just more than a week before the lemon went off and I just threw it away and made a new one. Still no flies.
Some folk say it works and others swear it does nothing at all. Try it and see for yourself. Urban legend or not?
